Schengen Visa Guide

Schengen Travel Insurance for Egyptians, Requirements and Providers

Travel insurance is mandatory for every Schengen visa application. It must cover at least EUR 30,000, include emergency medical and repatriation to Egypt, and be valid across all 27 Schengen countries. Cost from Egyptian providers typically EGP 200-400 for a one-week trip.

Mandatory insurance requirements

  • Coverage: EUR 30,000 minimum.
  • Emergency medical: must be included.
  • Repatriation to Egypt: must be explicitly listed.
  • Geographic scope: all 27 Schengen countries.
  • Duration: every day of travel, from entry to exit.

Insurance providers available in Egypt

Major Egyptian insurance companies offer Schengen-specific policies. The most common ones we see Veeza customers use:

  • AXA Insurance Egypt, Schengen policy from EGP 250 for one week, EUR 30,000 coverage.
  • Allianz Egypt, coverage up to EUR 100,000, pricing from EGP 300.
  • Misr Insurance, popular local provider, EGP 200-350 per week.
  • GIG Egypt, Schengen policy from EGP 220.
  • Mondial Care, specialised travel insurer with strong Schengen experience.

Prices approximate for a one-week trip for an applicant under 30. Age and duration affect pricing.

What to verify before buying

  1. Certificate explicitly labelled "Schengen-compliant" or "Schengen visa insurance".
  2. Coverage amount stated in EUR, not only EGP.
  3. Dates match your exact travel period.
  4. Full name correct and matches your passport.
  5. Schengen countries listed by name or as "all Schengen countries".

How to get it

You can buy online directly from the insurer’s site. Each provider emails a PDF certificate within 24 hours. Some Cairo offices print on the spot. It’s simple.

Who picks the insurance in a Veeza application?

You choose and purchase the travel insurance yourself. Veeza does not sell insurance. We ask you to upload your insurance certificate so we can verify it meets Schengen specs before submission.
