Schengen Visa Guide
Schengen Visa Interview Questions for Egyptians
Most Schengen visa applications from Egypt are decided on paperwork alone, without a personal interview. But if the consulate requests one, expect questions about trip purpose, finances, ties to Egypt, and your itinerary. Clear, honest answers help. Lying or contradicting your paperwork is a fast track to rejection.
The golden rule
Your interview answers must match your paperwork exactly: trip purpose, dates, hotels, costs. If your paperwork says 10 days in Paris and your interview says "as long as I want," the application will be rejected.
Most common questions
1. Why do you want to visit [destination country]?
Give a specific, personal reason: a cultural site you have been planning to visit, a family member you will meet, a conference, a specific city you researched. Avoid vague answers like "tourism" or "to see Europe."
2. How will you finance your trip?
Refer to your bank statements. Mention your salary, savings, and (if applicable) a sponsor. Be specific about how much per day you have budgeted.
3. Are you travelling alone or with others?
Honest answer. If with family, name them. If alone, that is fine, be ready to explain why solo travel makes sense for you.
4. What is your full itinerary?
Walk through it day by day. Cities, hotels, key activities. Match exactly what you submitted in your application.
5. Where do you work and what is your role?
Company name, your job title, how long you have been there, your monthly salary in EGP. Be ready to show your employment letter.
6. What ties do you have to Egypt?
Family, property, ongoing employment, business, education. The consul wants to know you will return. Be specific and bring documentation.
7. Have you been to the Schengen Area before?
Honest answer. If yes, show the stamps. If no, that is fine but explain why this trip and why now.
8. Do you have any relatives in Schengen countries?
Honest answer. If yes, name them, their status (citizen, resident, etc.), and whether you will see them. Hiding relatives is a common rejection cause.
9. How long will you stay?
The exact number of days from your application. Confirm dates match flight bookings.
10. When will you return to Egypt?
The return flight date on your booking. Be ready to show the ticket.
11. Do you have travel insurance?
Yes, show the certificate. State the coverage amount (EUR 30,000+) and that it covers all Schengen countries and your full travel period.
12. Have you been refused a visa before?
Honest answer. If yes, briefly explain what happened and how this application addresses that reason. Lying here is a fast track to rejection.
Common mistakes
- Vague answers ("for tourism" with no detail).
- Contradicting submitted paperwork.
- Hiding relatives in Schengen countries.
- Exaggerating salary or bank balance.
- Overly long answers (the officer wants concise, clear responses).
- Excessive nervousness (some anxiety is normal, but relax and be yourself).
How Veeza reduces interview risk
Consulates request more interviews when paperwork raises questions (contradictions, gaps, ambiguity). When Veeza reviews your application end-to-end and confirms it is complete and consistent, you reduce the chance of being called in.
